Cambodia Gambling Dens
July 20th, 2026 by Elsa

There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just across the border from next door Thailand, where gambling den gambling is not permitted. Eight gambling halls are anchored in a relatively small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect spot, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a few restrictions constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; although, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 1700, and even though visas are apparently necessary to pass, there are means around this, as is real of many borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked boat gambling hall, contains 150 slots and 60 tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machine games and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the common tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international vacation and hotel compound that highlights a number of luxuries accompanying the casino, which offers 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and eighty eight gaming tables.
