Zimbabwe Casinos
October 3rd, 2025 by Elsa

The prospect of living in Zimbabwe is somewhat of a gamble at the moment, so you might think that there might be little affinity for supporting Zimbabwe’s casinos. Actually, it seems to be operating the opposite way around, with the critical market circumstances creating a higher ambition to wager, to try and locate a fast win, a way out of the difficulty.

For many of the locals subsisting on the meager nearby wages, there are 2 established forms of gambling, the state lottery and Zimbet. As with practically everywhere else on the planet, there is a state lottery where the probabilities of winning are remarkably small, but then the winnings are also unbelievably large. It’s been said by financial experts who study the concept that most don’t buy a card with a real assumption of profiting. Zimbet is founded on either the local or the English soccer divisions and involves determining the outcomes of future matches.

Zimbabwe’s gambling halls, on the other shoe, pamper the incredibly rich of the state and travelers. Up till a short while ago, there was a considerably substantial sightseeing business, centered on nature trips and visits to Victoria Falls. The economic woes and associated conflict have cut into this trade.

Amongst Zimbabwe’s gambling halls, there are two in the capital, Harare, the Carribea Bay Resort and Casino, which has 5 gaming tables and one armed bandits, and the Plumtree Casino, which has only slots. The Zambesi Valley Hotel and Entertainment Center in Kariba also has only slots. Mutare has the Monclair Hotel and Casino and the Leopard Rock Hotel and Casino, both of which offer table games, one armed bandits and electronic poker machines, and Victoria Falls has the Elephant Hills Hotel and Casino and the Makasa Sun Hotel and Casino, the two of which has slot machines and tables.

In addition to Zimbabwe’s gambling dens and the aforementioned mentioned lottery and Zimbet (which is considerably like a pools system), there is a total of 2 horse racing complexes in the state: the Matabeleland Turf Club in Bulawayo (the second city) and the Borrowdale Park in Harare.

Given that the economy has shrunk by more than 40% in the past few years and with the connected deprivation and conflict that has arisen, it isn’t known how healthy the vacationing industry which supports Zimbabwe’s casinos will do in the near future. How many of the casinos will carry on until conditions get better is simply unknown.
