Cambodia Gambling Dens
March 6th, 2021 by Elsa

There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling den gaming is not permitted. Eight gambling halls are established in a relatively tiny space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime area, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing income accrued from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few controls requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; although, investment sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and although visas are allegedly needed to pass, there are ways around this, as is real of many borders.

The 1st Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat casino, features one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 60 tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of 150 slot machines and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machine games and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 96 table games, including 87 punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive resort and hotel complex that contains numerous comforts aside from the casino, which provides 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slots and 88 table games.
