Cambodia Gambling Halls
February 16th, 2019 by Elsa

There is a captivating history to the Cambodia casinos that sit just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which casino betting is not legal. Eight casinos are based in a relatively tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent location, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing capital accrued from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few restrictions constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; although, financing sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 1700, and though visas are apparently necessary to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is real of most borders.

The original Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship gambling hall, highlights 150 slots and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are 150 slots and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machine games and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat banque (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and 66 of the normal tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive resort and hotel building that highlights numerous comforts aside from the gambling hall, which houses 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 tables.
